Installation

 To play with PONK, copy or move the ponk.py and menu.py files to your home directory ~/.nuke folder. In case you already have a menu.py file than merge its contents with this file.

The default home directory paths for Nuke are:
Linux: /home/.nuke
OSX: /Users/.nuke
Windows: C:\Users\.nuke

If you are having trouble installing PONK or you don’t want to install it permanently open up portable_ponk.py with a simple text editor and copy - paste its content into Nuke’s Script Editor and run the script.

  1. Right click on the Node Graph and select Script Editor
  2. Paste script into the bottom half of the pane.
  3. Click on the Run button or press Ctrl+Return.

Usage

To create a multiplayer game follow these steps:

Create a Server 

  1. Open the Ponk > Create Server window and send the IP address and port number to your opponent who will use the client to connect to your server. Change the default port number if it’s blocked for some reason.
  2. Set the level, the size of the game field and the number of rounds.
  3. Change your player name if you like. On Linux and Windows it is filled automatically with your user name. Set your paddle’s color.
  4. Create the server and wait for the client to join.
  5. Start the game.

Join a Server 

  1. Open the Ponk > Connect to Server window and paste the server’s IP address and port number.
  2. Change your player name if you like. On Linux and Windows it is filled automatically with your user name. Set your paddle’s color.
  3. Connect to the server and wait.

Controls 

Move the paddle left: ‘,’
Move the paddle right: ‘.’
