is this different to the Edit/Node/Conne ct Backward?

Yes. I tend to use this if I'm frame averaging something. So I have 30 or so read nodes and I want to pipe them all into a merge node. This will connect everything selected to a single new merge node.

Does this give different functionality than selecting the nodes and pressing 'm'?
