This tool is designed to match grain for the Alexa camera system using the ARRI ALEV III sensor in a scene linear compositing workflow (traditional AlexaV3LogC to linear or an aces scene linear workflow is supported). The grain sample is generated procedurally using standard nuke noise nodes to match an Alexa grain sample.
The response curve was created at an ISO of 800 (native). However, ISO settings from 160 to 3200 are included for footage shot at different Exposure Index settings. Also, Due to all of the Alexa family of cameras having the same photosite size on there sensors, the node can match any of the Alexa cameras including the Alexa 65 and Alexa LF just by changing the 'Grain Sample' preset. All of the standard controls for tweaking the grain are included but it should match very close out of the box. Matching deep blacks however will require tweaking of the 'Deep Blacks' parameter to get a perfect match. The response curve can be tweaked but it is recomended to change it at ISO 800 or while looking at the exposure biased plate inside the group while at different ISO settings. As it is all procedural grain there is no need to download a grain sample .exr and it is very quick to process! V1.1 - Fixed the Grain seed animation.
