This gizmo emulates AfterEffects Knoll Unmult plugin.

Unmult creates an alpha channel based on the luminance of the image.

How is this different from the stock unpremult?

"Unmult creates an alpha channel based on the luminance of the image." Unpremult is used on images already containing an alpha channel.
