Phone screens are no longer just simple perfect rectangles, which may be great for the end user but is somewhat tedious for the modern-day compositing artist.
Rather than finding and keying an image of a similar-looking phone online, or drawing your own mattes to match the freaky shapes in the plate, ScreenBuddy lets you pick from a list of phone models and outputs a matte at the correct screen resolution for that model with all the nooks and crannies accounted for.
ScreenBuddy uses the Roto node internally to draw the mattes without relying on image dependencies. The splines are created programmatically from image measurements, so the shapes are super clean and can be adjusted manually as needed. The 'simplify' button replaces the whole ScreenBuddy node with just the Roto node.
Currently there are 13 different shapes covering 25 different models of devices.
