Creates a distorted invisibility or cloaking effect.

This gizmo creates the effect of an invisible object moving over a background of your choosing.

Inputs:

FG: The object to become invisible.

Matte: An additional matte to use (will defualt to FG alpha channel)

BG: The background to be distorted.

Output:

The node will output the distorted RGBA pass over the BG as default.

This is what I used as a FG test element, A static sphere with a colourwheel and noise used as texture and the noise driving a distortion:

 

This is the result using a checkerboard on the BG input.

 

 

Edge Tab
    Edge Distort On/Off: Turns the edge distortion on and off.

Edge Size Control:
    Size: Control the width of the edge.
    Blur: Blurs the edge selection.

Edge Distort Control:
    Distort Scale: Controls how much the distortion affects the background.
    Blur Amount: Controls how much the background is blurred based on the distortion.

Highlight Controls:
    Highlights: Adds a specular like highlight to the edge, as if the distortion is catching the light
    Highlight Blur: Blurs the highlights.

Core Tab
    Core Distort On/Off: Turns the core distortion on and off.

Noise Controls:
    Show Noise: Show the noise, gives you a better idea of how the images is being distorted.
    Intensity: Controls how much the distortion affects the background.
    Speed: Changes the speed or bubbling of the distortion.
    X/Y Size: Controls the size of the noise, the bigger, the further the distortion moves the background.
    Noise Blur: Softens the noise, creating softer distortion.

Core Distortion Control
    Distort Scale: Controls how much the distortion affects the background.
    Blur Amount: Controls how much the background is blurred based on the distortion.
    Luminance Effect Amount: Controls how the luminance of the FG object Affects the distortion. The Brighter the image the more it get distorted.

Misc Tab
    Premultiply: Choose to premultiply the output by the FG alpha.
    BG Override: Mixes out the distortion against the background. 0 = distorted image over background. 1 = background only.

Concerning the 8.0 v06 bug. If you open the gizmo up in an editor you can delete the top lines that establish the Nuke version. The gizmo runs just fine without it.
