Simple and Quick way to whitebalance your shots, based on ociocdl node
Pick a grey area, (area select to average out noise) it then averages R+G+B and multiplies each channel to be the same as the average, this is the most basic way to whitebalance/Neutralgrade a plate, its simple but very powerful, it can easily be reversed and exporrted as a .CC file and used studio-wide as a CDL inside OCIO, synColor or other Color management tools.
you can also remove the expression on the average knob and just type in 0.18 or whatever you have as a reference to also change luminance to the desired target.
Why should you use this instead of mcBeth charts?
