This plugin will help you get started working in nuke. Drag your source into nuke to work with and select the Read node. Using this plugin you can configure the project, the first frame will be 1001, the fps will be the same as the source, this is taken from the metadata, if there is no information there, then the values will be by default. And the format can also be configured as a source.
