DL_DrawLines is a stylized line-generation tool designed to create organic, hand-painted outlines that remain perfectly stable on moving CG renders. Originally developed for the short film The Alchemy of a Storm, this setup solves the common issue of jittering edges by using the cryptomatte as edge detection source.

The main challenge here was creating organic, handmade lines that actually stay stable on CG renders. I used a Pref pass with noise for the line distortions, but the real breakthrough was a happy accident. While trying to key stable edges, I accidentally wired my edge detect into the Cryptomatte giving stable results. That was the trick!
