ScreenExchange_Pro is a deterministic compositing tool for Foundry Nuke designed to remove high-contrast tracking markers (such as orange/red markers on green screen or pink/orange markers on blue screen) behind difficult, fast-moving, or motion-blurred hair without destroying fine strands or shifting hair color.
Why Marker_Ref & Clean_Plate Are Used
Marker_Ref (Held Original Marker Tracked to Live Plate):
FrameHold a clean frame where hair is not covering the marker, and track it so it sits pixel-for-pixel on top of the live original marker on every frame.
Why: Comparing Marker_Ref against the live Source plate cancels out the marker and background screen, allowing the tool to isolate only the moving hair strands.
Clean_Plate (Marker Painted Out on the Same Held Frame):
Paint out the marker on that exact same held frame and apply the exact same matchmove track.
Why: Comparing Clean_Plate vs Marker_Ref calculates the exact optical ratio/difference between the marker and clean screen, killing the marker on the background while keeping hair detail untouched.
Step-by-Step Workflow
Roto Mask: Draw a soft roto shape (Roto -> Erode -> Blur) around the marker on your clean reference frame.
Marker_Ref Branch: Footage -> FrameHold -> Copy Alpha -> Premult -> Matchmove Transform. Verify with a Merge (over) that it locks directly over the live marker.
Clean_Plate Branch: Footage -> RotoPaint (paint out marker) -> FrameHold (same frame) -> Copy Alpha -> Premult -> Same Matchmove Transform.
Connect to ScreenExchange_Pro:
Source: Live original footage
Marker_Ref: Tracked marker patch
Clean_Plate: Tracked clean screen patch
Mask: Tracked roto mask alpha
Composite: Connect ScreenExchange_Pro -> Premult -> Merge (over) onto your live Source plate (or select 2. Premultiplied Patch / 3. Full Composite in the Output menu).
Controls & Parameters
| Parameter | Description |
| Bypass Tool (A/B Compare) | Quickly toggles between the original Source and processed output. |
| Background Math | Choose between Multiplicative (Divide + Multiply), Additive (Minus + Plus), or Hybrid (50/50 Blend). |
| Output / View | Output as Unpremult Patch + Alpha, Premultiplied Patch, Full Composite, View Isolated Hair Matte, or View Clean Background Only. |
| Dark Pixel Floor | Protects very dark shadow pixels from division spikes (click the Wheel / 3 icon to adjust R, G, B separately). |
| BG Texture Blur Size & Mix | Smooths leftover marker grain/texture strictly on the background without blurring or thickening the hair. |
| BG Color Tune | Fine-tunes background patch RGB to match lighting shifts on the live plate. |
| Hair Bring-Back Strength | Controls how strongly moving hair strands are restored over the cleaned background (supports per-channel R, G, B adjustment). |
| Hair Matte Softness | Softens the extracted hair matte for motion-blurred curls. |
| Marker Red Cut in Hair | Eliminates orange/red marker bleed inside semi-transparent hair strands. |
| Hair Color Tune | Independent RGB grading on the restored hair strands. | can your that star make becauue webiste has bold opetion so it not get
