ARRI Alexa Grain is an accurate cleaned and expanded Nuke grain tool for simulating ARRI digital camera grain behavior across different ALEXA camera families. It based on AlexaGrain by Riley Gray
but adds camera-specific profiles and exposure-based grain scaling for more practical shot matching.
Just change camera profile , lens aperture and iso sensitivity based on your shot metadata and that's it.
New Features
Added camera profile menu:
ALEXA 35 / 35 Xtreme
ALEXA LF / Mini LF
ALEXA SXT / Mini / Classic
ALEXA 65
Added metadata-friendly aperture controls:
Reference T-Stop
Lens Aperture
Grain strength now calculates from exposure offset, not just arbitrary ISO.
Aperture labels match lens metadata, while the internal math converts them to stop difference.
Added ALEXA 35 4.6K grain sample option.
Updated grain behavior per camera family using published ARRI sensor facts:
ALEV4 / ALEXA 35: finer, cleaner grain.
ALEV3 / Classic-LF-65 family: classic Alexa texture with sensor-size scaling.
Profile-driven luma/chroma grain amount, RGB bias, grain size, and sharpness response.
modeled from published sensor facts:
ALEXA 35 / 35 Xtreme: ALEV4, 4608x3164, 6.075 um, 17 stops, EI 160-6400.
ALEXA LF / Mini LF: ALEV3 A2X, 4448x3096, 8.25 um, EI 160-3200.
ALEXA SXT / Mini / Classic: ALEV3 S35, 3424x2202 or crops, 8.25 um, EI 160-3200.
ALEXA 65: ALEV3 A3X, 6560x3100, same ALEV3 photosite design.

Technical Note
ARRI does not publish exact internal grain/noise tables, so this tool uses a physically informed model based on public sensor data: photosite pitch, sensor family, active resolution, EI behavior, and dynamic range. This makes the profiles practical and consistent while avoiding fake “secret” camera values.
